- Liability Reduction: Usagi carries professional liability insurance for care we provide, indemnifying both your event and venue.
- 24-Hr Response: We deliver fast, reliable first aid care directly to the scene of any request for aid in your venue for the duration of your show/event - 24 hours per day, from the opening bell to the closing ceremonies.
- Top-Notch Care: All Usagi volunteers are nationally certified in CPR/AED and our first aid responders have professional backgrounds in emergency medicine. We know when to call 911, and how to support attendees until 911 arrives.
- LGBTQIA+ Safe Space: UsagiMed is committed to equitable and safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized attendees. Inclusion is one of our core values, and our inclusion policy applies internally and externally to the people we work with and the people we treat.
- Flexible Staffing Deployments: UsagiMed works to gain a deep understanding of your convention’s unique needs and run of show, and will work with you to have extra staff where you need them the most, including busy panels and events, high-traffic areas, and long queues. We integrate with your volunteers and core crew and serve as your interface with 911 in an emergency. We can also serve your volunteer/crew's First Aid needs during show set-up and break-down.
- Sensory Space: One huge differentiator for Usagi is our care for overwhelmed or in-crisis attendees. We provide space for spiritual/behavioral health and sensory overload for attendees that might just need a safe, quiet space to unwind, recollect themselves, or de-stress.
- Walk-In Clinic: We operate a clinic space for attendees to visit with minor illnesses or injuries. Our self-service pharmacy offers over-the-counter (OTC) medications for attendees, which keeps them on-site and engaged with the con.

Walk-Up Clinic and Operations Space
The clinic is the nucleus of UsagiMed’s convention operations. We create a welcoming, safe space that encourages attendees to view us as part of their convention experience. We staff this space with experienced first aid providers providing services for walk-in patients including treatment of minor ailments and injuries and a self-service selection of over-the-counter (OTC) meds to keep attendees happy and on the con floor. This space also serves as our operations center, coordinating mobile responders. Depending on the size and type of event, this space can also include breakout rooms for sensory issues, participants dealing with sensitve or private situations, or coordination with local first responders.
From this space, we contain and control the convention chaos, preserving the con bubble so participants remain happy and engaged.
Field Response
UsagiMed’s field response teams are led by capable, experienced, and vetted prehospital providers with specific experience in fan convention medicine. These teams are designed to meet your attendees wherever they are at your event, for any reason, at any time. We integrate with your teams and coordinate to ensure smooth operations.
With experienced EMTs and paramedics coordinated by top-notch experts in fandom event medicine, help for an attendee in crisis is never far away. Our model is infinitely scalable and adaptable, giving any event the necessary level of incident management.
Spiritual and Behavioral Health (SBH)
Not all problems call for boots and bandages - psychological or emotional emergencies are common at events, especially in the aftermath of the COVID pandemic. UsagiMed’s volunteer-based model allowed us to create a program unique to fan event medical services - spiritual and behavioral health care.
UsagiMed provides experienced, vetted, tailored support for common crisis issues seen in convention spaces, such as anxiety, panic, sensory overload, relationship conflict, and many more. Masters degree-level practicing professionals from therapists to hospital chaplains serve with our spiritual and behavioral health division, providing emotional and mental first aid within professional methodologies and boundaries. All too often, these issues can ripple out from the affected individual to their surrounding social groups, causing widespread disruption of the con experience. UsagiMed’s model provides a safe harbor for those who need it most.
