Anxiety attacks can be extremely debilitating, and while many of those with panic disorders experience them often, it can happen to anyone. These episodes can be hard to pin down and understand, especially in a moment of stress. Understanding the symptoms and knowing what to look out for can be crucial in a time of need.

Physical symptoms of an anxiety attack can include:
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Rapid heartbeat

Psychological symptoms of an anxiety attack can include:
  • Derealization (loss of touch with reality)
  • Feelings of helplessness
  • “Disaster thinking”, involving uncontrollably imagining situations like car crashes or collapsing in a dangerous place (Abraham)

While there are no specific causes for anxiety attacks, they are understood to be a combination of biological vulnerabilities, ways of thinking, and environmental factors like social stressors (Edwards). Anxiety attacks can be caused by a stressful situation, receival of tragic news, or sometimes nothing at all. Keeping a pulse on your physical and emotional state can help you stay in control.

Using them correctly means using a new condom for every act of penetrative sex, including putting it on correctly and removing it correctly (see below)!
I know, very few people actually *like* condoms. However, that’s often because we aren’t taught to use them correctly!

Con Crud. You don’t want it, and neither do we.
“Con Crud” (also known as “Con Plague”) is a broad term applied to any number of viruses or contagion you may pick up from others while you’re at a convention. The fact is, we all encounter all kinds of “crud” (germs, bacteria, and viruses) on a daily basis. Our bodies generally do an amazing job of fighting off these invaders every day. BUT, when you’re staying awake all night, gaming, partying, and reveling with your friends over meals comprised of pocky and red bull, your immune system taps out, and all the “crud” can have its nefarious way with you.

We get it. You’re walking around a lot at the convention, surrounded by tons of other warm bodies, and you’re having a great time. We know it’s hard to overlook the water thing when you’re having so much fun. But if you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. If you continue to ignore your thirst, you may feel tired, have muscle cramps, dizziness, or other serious symptoms.
